Lori Holden, named a “Top 10 Must-Read Mom” by Parenting magazine, has been published by Parenting and Adoptive Families, on the Website BlogHer and other media. Increasingly recognized as an expert in the field of adoption, Lori was asked to be the keynote speaker and will be honored with the 2013 Commitment to Excellence Award by the nonprofit organization Parenthood For Me. Lori has spoken at BlogHer conferences about adoption/loss/infertility issues about authenticity in writing.
Lori is a regular columnist for Mile High Mamas, a Denver Post site. Her blog, LavenderLuz.com, has been listed by Adoptive Families as one of the top adoption blogs. Her first book, The Open-Hearted Way to Open Adoption: Helping Your Child Grow Up Whole (Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, 2013), was born from listening to hundreds of people living in adoption—adult adoptees, birth parents, adoptive parents and adoption professionals. Lori was honored as a 2018 Angel in Adoption by the Congressional Coalition of Adoption Institute.
Her passions include yoga, ayurvedic medicine and noticing perfect moments. Lori has lived in Japan and in the Middle East, and currently lives in Denver with her husband, Roger, and two children. Her daughter, Tessa, and her son, Reed, continue to teach her every day.
