Kristin Wong is an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazineand Glamour. She frequently writes about personal finance, career and human behavior. Her first book, Get Money: Live the Life You Want, Not Just the life You Can Afford (Hachette Books, 2018), is a gamified guide to personal finance, incorporating basic money advice into actionable challenges to help readers feel financially empowered. Kristin received her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Houston, where she graduated cum laude. She worked as a technical writer for two years before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in television writing. She wrote for a nationally syndicated entertainment news show and created a web series for Fox Digital that lived on Netflix. In 2012, Kristin began writing and producing videos for MSN Living, where she and her editor received an award from the Society of Professional Journalists.

Kristin is currently a freelance writer and journalist and regularly contributes to publication including The New York Times and Glamour magazine. She’s also written for NBCNews.com, New York Magazine’s “The Cut” and Mental_floss. She also launched Lifehacker’s personal finance blog, “Two Cents,” where she built an audience of about 800,000 monthly readers.

Kristin has appeared on Fox Business, Buzzfeed’s AM2DM, WNYC and a number of podcasts and radio shows to discuss her work, typically on the topic of negotiating, personal finance and freelancing. She is a sought-after speaker and has presented material at the Lola Retreat in New York City, the Actor’s Fund in Los Angeles and the Road to Financial Wellness financial literacy tour. Editors and readers often praise Kristin’s ability to discuss complicated financial topics in a manner that is both engaging and accessible.
