Joseph Cardillo, Ph.D., is a professor of English and Creative Writing at the State University of New York and a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Creative Activity and Scholarly Research. A nationally recognized expert in holistic arts and philosophy, he has authored several top-selling books translated into 12 languages. His notable works include The 12 Rules of Attention and the body-energy classic Be Like Water. His book Body Intelligence: Harness Your Body’s Energies for Your Best Life received a starred review from Publishers Weekly and was a Library Journal national
bestseller, while his co-authored work, Your Playlist Can Change Your Life (foreword by Sting), was featured on The Today Show. Bridging the gap between academia and the avant-garde, his music lyrics were a “Hot Pick” on the legendary John Peel Show (BBC) and charted in CMJ. As a performance artist, he has recorded experimental poems with Vision Records in Basel, Switzerland—a studio notable for its recordings of Nobel laureate Carl Spitteler, William S. Burroughs, and Allen Ginsberg. He toured the country extensively performing works from his poetry volumes, including Turning Toward Morning, a collection written during his time in the Middle East, filmed for and broadcast on PBS.
